PUBLIC SAFETY

As a Tracy City Councilmember, Dan has:

 

  • Voted to ensure that the Tracy Police Department and Tracy Fire Department have the resources necessary to protect our community

  • Voted to finalize the 20+ year plan to transition the Tracy Fire Department into an independent agency, enhancing emergency response time and saving taxpayer dollars

  • Passed the Tracy Homelessness Strategic Plan to address the issue of homelessness in our community with a comprehensive plan that addresses public safety and support services

  • Secured $3.66 million to begin construction of the Tracy Emergency Housing Shelter

  • Fought to secure funding from the U.S. Department of Justice for the Tracy Police Department, including funding for innovative pilot projects like “Operation Familiar Faces”

  • Fought for inclusion of historically underserved neighborhoods in Tracy—like historic Central and North Tracy—to develop relationships with the Tracy Police Department, including neighborhood watch groups and participation in National Night Out

  • Organized with the Tracy Police Department, the District Attorney’s Office, and community leaders to OPPOSE release and parole of the Defendant in the Tracy Child Torture case

  • Testified in front of the California State Senate to secure and enhance medical access and resources for the City of Tracy as well as throughout the Central Valley

STRONG LOCAL ECONOMY

 

As a Tracy City Councilmember, Dan has:

  • Balanced the budget allowing for enhanced investment in city infrastructure

  • Enhanced funding to invest in technology and increase staff to fix roads and sidewalks

  • Fought to secure funding from state and federal agencies to support VALLEYLINK—a light rail system which will connect San Joaquin County to BART

  • Approved the first affordable housing development in 20+ years

  • Fought to ensure that new developments were zoned to limit warehouses near freeways, and included diverse commercial zoning

  • Fought to ensure that new developments were zoned to include a new hospital

  • Fought to support the revitalization of Downtown Tracy through funding and community partnerships

INFRASTRUCTURE

As a Tracy City Councilmember, Dan has:

  • Balanced the budget for the first-time in nearly a decade

  • Secured funding for new “Measure V” local amenities—including the Tracy Nature Park, the Aquatics Park, Legacy Fields, and the Multi-Generation Center

  • Passed a long-term Budget Principles Policy to ensure financial responsibility for the city over the next decade

  • Voted to legalize commercial cannabis in the City of Tracy

  • Fought to bring new jobs in the “green renewable energy” industry into the City of Tracy

  • Voted to construct a hydrogen-energy-plant in Tracy to support operations and maintenance for the ValleyLink light rail system

  • Fought to bring new jobs and innovative industries into the City of Tracy

  • Led efforts for “Measure B”—an equity business license measure to REDUCE TAXES for 80% of Tracy Businesses and force large corporations to pay their fair share

  • Fought to support the revitalization of Downtown Tracy through funding and community partnerships

HOMELESSNESS

As a Tracy City Councilmember, Dan has:

  • Passed the Tracy Homelessness Strategic Plan to address the issue of homelessness in our community with a comprehensive plan that addresses public safety and support services

  • Secured $3.66 million to begin construction of the Tracy Emergency Housing Shelter

  • Fought to secure funding from the U.S. Department of Justice for the Tracy Police Department, including funding for innovative pilot projects like “Operation Familiar Faces”

  • Worked with community organizations, like Tracy Community Connections Center, to provide support services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the City of Tracy

GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABILITY

 

As a Tracy City Councilmember, Dan has:

  • Balanced the budget for the first-time in nearly a decade

  • Passed the Code of Ethics for elected and appointed officials in the City of Tracy

  • Passed City Council Meeting Protocols to ensure that city business is done effectively during public City Council meetings

  • Passed policy to increase the vote requirement to a 4/5 supermajority of City Council to remove the City Manager or City Attorney

MIDDLE-CLASS AFFORDABLE HOUSING

 

As a Tracy City Councilmember, Dan will:

  • Approved the first affordable housing development in 20+ years

  • Fought to diversify housing types in new developments to provide a wide array of housing types for ownership

  • Fought to ensure that local infrastructure is developed along with new development in Tracy

  • Passed the Tracy Homelessness Strategic Plan to address the issue of homelessness in our community with a comprehensive plan that addresses public safety and support services

  • Worked with community organizations, like Tracy Community Connections Center, to provide support services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the City of Tracy

YOUTH & EDUCATION

As a Tracy City Councilmember, Dan will:

  • Coordinated efforts between the City of Tracy and local school districts as part of the City/Schools Liaison Committee

  • Advocated to enhance the role of the Tracy Youth Advisory Committee to provide advisory opinions directly to the Tracy City Council

  • Secured funding for community organizations, like the Tracy Chamber of Commerce, to provide support services for youth in the City of Tracy

SERVANT LEADERSHIP

As a Tracy City Councilmember, Dan has:

  • Fought to enhance transparency of public meetings during the COVID-19 Pandemic

  • Fought to require more opportunities for public engagement related to items of interest to the community including public safety, diversity and equity, affordable housing, economic development, and the city budget.

  • Fought at the regional, state, and federal levels to advocate for the interests of the City of Tracy including through East Bay Community Energy, One Voice, the League of California Cities, and the National League of Cities.
